

The colourful music festival welcomes competitors from around the world to compete in concerts and cultural performances. Though not the only Welsh town that holds an Eisteddfod, the tradition started in Llangollen in 1947. Llangollen is perhaps most well known for the annual music festival, the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. The FLYING Aviation Expo held a silent auction in which Scheyden donated a True Aviator Steam Gauge timepiece and a pair of C-130 frames towards this years. Another popular attraction locally is the Horseshoe Falls, a horseshoe shaped weir on the River Dee, designed by Thomas Telford in 1808. Each cracked game will have a (+) () or (x) sign. Though Llangollen is a small town, it is home to the Llangollen Motor Museum, Llangollen Museum and the Georgian historic house and gardens of Plas Newydd, most famous for its inhabitants, ‘The Ladies of Llangollen’. The picturesque Llangollen Railway runs along the River Dee for the entire length of its journey. The railway gives the chance of a change of pace, with a classic steam engine, leisurely pulling along a 1950’s carriage. The Llangollen Steam Railway is also popular with many visitors. For those wishing to have a more leisurely visit to Llangollen, there are many walks to be taken which take in stunning views of the scenery and history of the area. The River Dee offers natural opportunities for fishing and many water sports. It attracts visitors looking to explore the local area or to use as a base to venture further a field.
